Hailing from Kauai, David Phillips, a.k.a "DPhil", made his first big impression on the bodyboarding world at the 2009 Pipeline event. David's high-flying, progressive maneuvers had the audience asking, “Who is this guy?” As for his fellow Hawaii riders, they all knew DPhil and his dynamic skill set.
In 2003, David heavily assisted with the launch of "Boogie Nation" and a subsequent onslaught of high quality videos featuring progressive bodyboarding and underground riders. Boogie Nation was a welcomed addition to Hawaii’s bodyboarding community as it strove to celebrate having fun and ripping without concern for industry recognition. Boogie Nation would support these riders by helping them travel the world and documenting their travels.
David became well known for his mastery of the air reverse and what eventually turned into his pursuit of the elusive 720 rotation. While he has landed a few "off camera", he is still on the hunt for capturing the perfect 720 on film. And while on the "720 mission", David became the first on film to land an invert to reverse rollo which he dubbed the “DeVert.” In short, DPhil has been on the forefront of progressive bodyboarding long before the 2009 Pipeline event.
The “DPhil” signature model features a prone oriented wide template that provides more float and encourages faster rotations. The Kinetic Core has a unique double channeled contour slick paired with a bat wing styled tail. Custom Deck contours making the board feel thinner and allow for increased grip strength in these key grip areas. The "DPhil" is high performance mixed with a ton of functionality. Whether it's 2 ft or 12 ft, this is the David's board of choice for fine tuning large airs and fast rotating air 360s
