Seamas Mercado grew up just over the hill from Sandy Beach. The ocean was always calling, and Seamas always answered. As the sport of bodyboarding matured and international publications and contests began popping up, Seamas found himself hopping planes, chasing waves, and basically having a really good time. Talent and tenacity put him high on the photographers wish list for surf trips and shots of Seamas “going big” were everywhere. On a trip to Australia circa 1994, Seamas linked up with Aussie rippers Dave Ballard and Rick Bannister who introduced him to a local shaper. They got to talking about board design and Seamas ordered a custom to take back to Hawaii. The board was simple; flat deck, flat bottom, single stringer, sealed air deck, surlyn slick, standard crescent, large tail pegs all on a prone-friendly template. Seamas rode a lot of boards after that one had been put through the ringer but he never got rid of it. It became the board against which all others were measured. That board was replicated, tested and approved for what is now the Seamas Mercado Tribute Series Pro Model. No bells and whistles, no hi-tech additives, the SM Pro Model is a step back in time. Seamas comments, “This is a board for anyone who wants premium construction at a great price on a board that just flows with whatever you want to do.” The tried and proven template, the overall design components, and the material story are like Seamas’s riding….timeless. Enjoy. The Seamas Mercado Signature Model features a Kinetic core with Surlyn slick. The 41' and 42" sizes have single stringer set ups and the 43" is double stringer.
